Privacy Policy

This explains what Zuri Barbershop does with your personal information when you use this website, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to meet the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

Who is responsible for your information

Zuri Barbershop is the responsible party for the personal information collected through this website. Our contact details are on the site — use the contact form or the phone number and address shown there.

This website is built and hosted for us by RSA Web Design, who process information on our instructions as our operator. They do not use it for their own purposes.

What we collect, and why

When you send us a message

The contact form asks for your name, email address, phone number and your message. We use those details for one thing: to read your enquiry and reply to it. Submitting the form is your request that we contact you back, which is the basis on which we hold it.

Your message is delivered to us by email through RSA Web Design's systems. It is not sold, rented or shared with anyone else, and it is not used to send you marketing you did not ask for.

Keeping the form usable

The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which tells real visitors apart from automated submissions. It runs only on the page with the form, it identifies itself with a badge in the corner of that page, and Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to it. Without it the form would be unusable, so it is not part of the optional choices below — we rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the form working.

Things you can turn off

Two parts of this site are optional, and neither of them runs unless you allow it:

Visitor statistics. Google Analytics counts visits and which pages get read, so we can see whether the site is doing its job. It sets cookies on your device and tells Google your approximate location and the pages you viewed. We see totals and trends, not individual people.
The map. The map showing where we are is loaded from Google Maps. Loading it tells Google your IP address and that you were on this page. You can also load the map once, without allowing anything else, using the button in its place.

Your choice

You were asked when you first arrived, and you can change your mind here at any time. Your answer is stored on your own device and nowhere else.

Declining does not stop the site working. It only means the statistics and the map stay off.

Who else sees your information

RSA Web Design — builds and hosts this site and delivers the contact form to us.
Amazon Web Services — hosts the site and the contact form, in South Africa.
Google — the form's spam check, and the statistics and map if you allowed them.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it. Beyond that, nobody.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to deal with you and to meet our record-keeping obligations, and then we delete them. You can ask us to delete yours sooner.

Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

ask what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy
have information that is wrong or incomplete corrected
ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep
object to how we are using your information
withdraw a consent you gave, at any time, without it affecting what was done beforehand

To exercise any of these, contact us using the details on this site. We will respond as soon as we reasonably can.

Changes to this notice

If we change how this site handles personal information, this page changes with it. If the change affects something you consented to, you will be asked again rather than opted in quietly.
